Yishun is a large and well-established residential town in the north of Singapore, developed from the late 1970s as one of the first new towns in the northern region. It is a self-sufficient estate with a wide range of amenities, a growing commercial presence around its town centre, and a strong community identity shaped by decades of stable residency.
Amenities & shopping Northpoint City is one of Singapore's largest suburban malls, anchoring Yishun's town centre with a cinema, supermarkets including NTUC FairPrice and Cold Storage, and an extensive range of dining and retail. Yishun 10 and Junction Nine in neighbouring Woodlands serve additional needs. Chong Pang City Market and Food Centre is a beloved hawker institution, particularly well-known for its seafood and local breakfast options. Schools in the area include Yishun Primary, Naval Base Secondary, and Yishun Innova Junior College.
Transport & accessibility Yishun MRT on the North-South Line connects directly to the city, with Khatib MRT also serving the southern part of the estate. The Seletar Expressway (SLE) and Central Expressway (CTE) are the main road links southward.

The Yishun Dam and its surrounding parkland offer a quieter, less-visited waterside setting. Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, a major public hospital, anchors healthcare for the northern region. Nee Soon South — the estate's southern precinct — is undergoing gradual rejuvenation with new HDB developments and improved park connectors.
