Queenstown holds the distinction of being Singapore's first satellite town, developed from the 1950s as part of the Housing Development Board's early public housing programme. Transport & accessibility Queenstown MRT on the East-West Line is the main station, with Commonwealth MRT also serving the eastern part of the estate. Buona Vista MRT (East-West and Circle Lines) adds cross-island connectivity at the western edge. Alexandra Road and the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) provide road access to the CBD, the west, and the harbour area.
