Thomson Plaza
Serving residents of Upper Thomson and the surrounding landed residential enclaves for decades, Thomson Plaza at 301 Upper Thomson Road remains one of Singapore’s most established suburban shopping centres. Opened in 1979 and extensively refreshed over the years, the mall has built a loyal following among nearby families, long-time residents, and expatriate communities living within the central northern corridor. Unlike newer mega malls, Thomson Plaza retains a distinctly neighbourhood character despite its sizeable retail footprint.
The mall accommodates a broad mix of supermarkets, enrichment centres, bookstores, educational providers, restaurants, healthcare services, and family-oriented retailers. Japanese supermarket chain Meidi-Ya has historically been one of the mall’s better-known anchors and has contributed to its reputation as a destination for imported products and specialty groceries. The surrounding Thomson area has also evolved into a popular dining district, while nearby attractions such as MacRitchie Reservoir and Bishan–Ang Mo Kio Park provide recreational opportunities for residents and visitors.
Upper Thomson MRT Station (TE8) on the Thomson–East Coast Line is within walking distance, with bus routes along Upper Thomson Road offering convenient islandwide connectivity.
