Beauty World Centre

One of Singapore's most historically resonant neighbourhood malls, Beauty World Centre at 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road in Bukit Timah traces its roots to the legendary Beauty World amusement park and market that defined the district from the 1940s to the 1980s. Built by the URA in 1984 to rehouse displaced stallholders, this character-filled shopping complex in District 21 has a loyal following among locals who appreciate its unpretentious, old-school charm and affordable, practical offerings.

The mall spans multiple floors with a mix of tuition centres, hair salons, provision shops, bubble tea outlets, and beauty services. Its star attraction is the open-air rooftop food centre, home to around 41 stalls serving an eclectic spread of Singaporean favourites — from mutton soup and satay to traditional bak kut teh, Korean cuisine, and classic kaya toast and kopi. The area has also developed a notable Korean community cluster in recent years. A Cold Storage supermarket nearby rounds out the grocery options.

Beauty World MRT Station (DT5) on the Downtown Line is right at the doorstep of the mall, opened in December 2015 and making this a well-connected shopping destination in the Upper Bukit Timah area. Neighbouring Beauty World Plaza and Bukit Timah Shopping Centre are also within steps.
